How to update to OS7 beta for evaluation. (N2800, N4800ECO, N5550 and N7510)

1. Update to latest OS5 X64 V2.05.12.3 and reboot.

2. Please download OS5 CONF.BIN as a configure backup from [system management -> config mgmt. -> DOWNLOAD].

How to resolve AFP permission issue, CNID DB error or .AppleDB error.

If via AFP access NAS but get AFP permission issue, CNID DB error or .AppleDB error, please try from MAC via FTP or SAMBA access to NAS, if it is working correctly, and should related to .AppleDB issue, please try to remove following item via FTP or SAMBA, and then check from AFP again.

How to reset N2800 back to factory default.

1. Download the attached zip file "N2800V1.013320008.zip".
2. Unzip the file "N2800V1.013320008.zip".
There should be a folder "N2800V1.013320008" and there will be a sub-folder "gofactory" and a file "usb_reset_password".
3. Prepare an empty USB drive and copy the folder "gofactory" and the file "usb_reset_password" to the USB drive.
4. Plug the USB drive to NAS
5. Power on NAS and the resetting process will be started automatically.
6. After the process is done, system will shutdown automatically and please remove the USB drive then.
7. Please power on NAS again and after the NAS is powered up successfully, the password should be default password "admin"

How to count NAS BTU

Generally Thecsu NAS 1W about 4.265BTU/hr (Redundant power 4.2652BTU/hr ), thus we could converter from watt from power supply, also we could found the power supply specification from NAS specification: http://www.thecus.com -> Linux NAS -> and choose you model.

If you can't found you NAS mode please choose from www.thecus.com -> Linux NAS -> Archive or
http://www.thecus.com/product_archive.php?ARCHIVE=Y&PROD_TYPE_ID=1

EX1: N8900 specification about redundant power supply 500W or more, and should less than 700W depend on shipment condition, thus N8900 BTU will be:
500x4.2652=2132.6BTU/hr
700x4.2652=2985.64BTU/hr

EX2:
1U4600-S single power is 200W = 200x4.265=853BTU/hr.
1U4600-R redundant power is 250W = 200x4.2652=1066.3BTU/hr.

How to access data if NAS out of order or end of life?

1. Contact with your reseller, distributor or Thecus office for RMA request directly. And following reseller/distributor/office link for your reference:

2. Thecus NAS support RAID roaming between same OS series, thus could roaming RAID HDD to another unit for data access.
3. Boot RAID HDD from Fedora live USB/DVD/CD from PC, and provide SSH connection for Thecus satff assemble the RAID for you to backup.
4. Contact Thecus Branch office and ship HDDs for our staff help you to backup or migrate data. (But could have additional labor charge)
5. Arrange another Thecus OS5 x64 NAS (non N2310 N4310 N25x0 N45x0) and provide SSH connection for we assemble the RAID for you to backup on another RAID volume in the same NAS or USB/SAMBA/FTP/etc. external backup.

How OS7 roll back to OS5

 

  • If unable login NAS ADMIN WEB page.

    1. Download the USB tool.

      2016/01/04 11:39 115,467,955 force_FW_to_2.05.12.3.cdv_build8850.zip
    2. Unzip the file. There should be a folder called "gofactory", and a file "XXX_FW_XXX".
    3. Prepare an empty USB drive and format the USB drive as FAT32.
    4. Copy the "gofactory" folder and "XXX_FW_XXX" file to the USB drive.
      The content of USB drive should be like the attached screenshot. "force_FW_to_2.05.12.3.cdv_build8850.png"
    5. Power off the NAS
    6. Plug USB drive into NAS; USB 2.0 port is preferred.
    7. Power on NAS
    8. It will start re-flashing DOM (Firmware) process.
    9. The process will be done in about 2.5 minutes; and then powered off by itself.
    10. Remove USB drive from NAS.
    11. Power on NAS.

EVO filesystem issue　 (EVO檔案系統問題）

If there is XFS error on EVO model, please try to download and upgrade firmware to version 1.05.00.23 firstly:

After upgrading, NAS need reboot. This firmware version will run filesystem check process automatically when NAS power on.

 

If 1.05.00.23 still not fix for this issue, please provide the NAS configuration file to us for analysis.

It can be downloaded from system UI: [System Management / Config Mgmt] and then press [Download] button.
And the file will be [conf.bin].



如果因為 XFS 系統檔案錯誤而異常，請先下載此檔案並更新N2200EVO的韌體版本到v1.05.00.23:

(N4100EVO跟N2200EVO是同一個韌體檔)

下載韌體後，請透過 NAS 管理者介面去更新。
[系統管理 → 更新軟體]，將韌體檔案上傳並更新。
韌體更新之後系統會提示您需要重新開機，此韌體會加強檔案系統修復的功能。
請您更新完韌體並重開機後再次檢查陣列資料是否能正常存取。
系統重新啟動後會自動執行修復程序，請依照精靈指示往下一步動作。

最後，請登入 NAS 管理者介面，[儲存/RAID] 和 [儲存/Share Folder] 確認資料是否有出現。
若有，請儘快備份資料。在備份完資料後，請刪除舊的陣列，並重新建立新陣列，最後再放回資料。
如果還是沒有陣列出現，請下載系統設定檔給我們分析。
此檔案可以在 [系統 / 系統設定管理] 按下 [下載] 即可下載 conf.bin 檔案。

[N4100PRO] 将您的 N4100PRO 还原至出厂默认值(U盘工具)

用USB工具只会将系统回复至出厂默认值，但不会影响到储存在NAS中的数据。此动作将会使所有NAS上的账号密码与网络相关设定回到出厂设定。必须手动重新建立使用者账号及权限。

用U盘回复出厂默认值的步骤如下:

请下载附件U盘工具:

1. 请准备一支空的U盘, 格式需为 FAT / FAT32。
2. 请下载附件的档案，将档案解压缩后会有 [factory_test.sh] & [usb_reset_default] 2个档案。
3. 将这两个档案复制至U盘。
4. 将NAS关机。(将硬盘移出 NAS)
5. 将U盘插入N4100PRO 的 USB Port，然后再将 N4100PRO 开机。
6. 当回复出厂默认值动作完成之后，NAS会自动关机。
7. 请将U盘移除，再将NAS开机即可。


请注意： 执行此程序后, 系统不会清除储存在数组中的数据，但是会将设定回复到系统默认值。      

Admin password → admin
LAN 1 IP address → 192.168.1.100
LAN 1 IP Gateway → 192.168.1.1
LAN 1 Jumbo Frame Support → Off
LAN 2 IP → 192.168.2.254
LAN 2 Jumbo Frame Support → Off

Due to NSYNC & RSYNC default through VPN SSL for data transition, due OS5 X32 end of life for a while thus we have no plan to update the VPN SSL, and following suggestion for your reference:

  1. Change to LEGACY FTP SERVER model for new backup task as following picture.

Since N2310 HW replaced and first boot with data RAID HDD,please confirm following items:


1 Please download & use latest INTELLIGENT NAS V1.01.20 from http://install.thecus.com.
2 Since INTELLIGENT NAS discovered N2310, just need click “NEXT” twice & “START BROWSER”, then you could access to the N2310 ADMIN WEB。(As following picture)
3 If have other text or page occurred, as like “ASSIST RAID”, “CREATE RAID” or “RAID REASSE….”, please check following steps:
3.1 Press power button make NAS off.
3.2 Prepare remote assist from http://goo.gl/ztuAVQ
3.3 Submit ticket from http://esupport.thecus.com

當N2310 完修之後，將有資料的N2310 舊硬碟，與N2310進行第一次開機，請注意以下項目:

How to configure subfolder ACL

1. The root folder (first level) need create from NAS ADMIN WEB page.
2. Subfolder need create from Windows, FTP or else protocol.
3. Subfolder ACL need configure from NAS ADMIN WEB page.
4. Each ALC page have a check box called RECURSIVE, this option would overwrite all subfolder since this folder.
5. WebDAV (Thecus T-OnTheGo app) service unsupported subfolder ACL permissions.
6. Due Winodws would auto save your share folder connection & permission in the background, please use FTP to test and able to avoid misunderstanding.
